Feelings & Me

The early years are when children begin to make sense of themselves, their emotions and the world around them. Created by a qualified psychotherapist, Feelings & Me is a playful six-week course designed to introduce young children to their emotional world in a gentle, age-appropriate way.

Through stories, play, movement and creative activities, we’ll explore:

  • Recognising and understanding feelings - learning to notice and name different emotions and beginning to understand the difference between a feeling and the behaviour that can follow it.

  • Learning that all feelings are okay - learning that all feelings are welcome and natural, even the big or uncomfortable ones, while exploring what we can do with them.

  • Expressing and managing big feelings - exploring safe ways to express emotions and beginning to discover simple, age-appropriate ways to soothe and regulate when feelings become overwhelming.

The aim isn’t to teach children that difficult feelings need to be fixed or avoided, but to help them learn that all feelings are welcome, understandable and something we can learn to navigate. This being said, it’s important to keep in mind that children at this age will still heavily rely on their parents around them for comfort, reassurance and co-regulation. Feelings & Me isn’t about expecting children to manage big emotions on their own, but about gently introducing the language, awareness and simple tools that can support their emotional development as they grow.

This is a small, calm, and low stimulation class, with a maximum of eight children, allowing each child the space to feel comfortable, supported and involved.
